CBC Interview with Brave Media Internet Marketing Part II
CBC Radio Interview with Brave Media Internet Marketing Part II
In response to CBC Radio One’s question about how to increase the number of voters, I thought it was time to write a personal blog post about this as director of social media marketing for Brave Media.
We have at our disposal a lot of great new “social media” tools that allow us to communicate with our friends, family and of course customers. However, I often see social media being abused in a way that makes one wonder “who cares!”. Looking at this in a business sense (i.e. if your company has created a blog, facebook or twitter account) you should be very aware that people don’t care about what new product you are releasing. Instead they want to know how your product/service will help them.
This is extremely key to the success of any social media campaign. Your clients/customers can block or delete you rather rapidly if they sense that your are trying to spam them with your product. On the other hand, if you use social media to gather information about what problems people are encountering in your niche…then your product/service could be the exact thing that they are looking for.
When consulting with my clients this is something that I work actively on defining. Social Media relies heavily on word of mouth marketing, and if you haven’t devised an intelligent plan to use these tools effectively then you will only be doing harm to the reputation of your company.
One of the biggest successes I have seen is with my client Spruce Body Lab. Their facebook group serves to inform people about skin care and benefits of their treatments and the results that they have seen in their business because of this is quite extraordinary and beyond all our expectations.
